DELAIR B.V has leading position in the field of (compressed) air, gas and liquid treatment for more than 60 years. In other words Delair's business is manufacturing Delair® installations for drying filtration and separation of compressed air, ambient air and gases.
In many cases the Adsorption Technology is used for drying of air and the separation of gases, because by the physical properties of desiccant it is possible to find a solution for almost each drying or separation process.
Until several years ago we manufactured our own desiccant and because of that we have built up a lot of experience in the physical properties of the different types. One of the things we found out during the production process. These quality problems occurred mostly during the staring and stopping of the process.
Because of the wide range of desiccants which are needed these days and the costs involved by manufacturing so many types, we stopped our production. However now we use our knowledge, to check the quality of the desiccants from some selected suppliers.

Why is the quality of the desiccant so important?
For every Delair ® airdryer or gasdryer, the process engineer will select a desiccant type based on the performance of our DELSORB HQ. Attached to this selection of the desiccant Delsorb HQ, he selects the regeneration temperature or purge flow, regeneration time, cooling time, pressure drop over the adsorbers and the performance(Dewpoint) of the installation by the given process conditions.
It will be clear, that it is from utmost importance that the desiccant which we use has the Delsorb HQ quality. Because if the quality of the desiccant is not as required, it can cause several problems, like dust, pulverization, high temperatures, high dewpoint before end process time is reached, etc. The result can be unexpexted maintenance costs like, changing the desiccant filling, extra filter elements because of dust problems, seats damaged by dust, not the right performance of the installation (dewpoint), etc.,etc.
Therefore every desiccant which we use in our Delait® compressed air- and gasdryers, is tested our laboratory on typical physical properties. If the quality of the desiccant is according our specifications, it gets the DELSORB-HQ logo.

Life-time of the desiccant!
The life-time depends for a great deal on the fact if the installation is running above or under design conditions. Normally spoken the technical life-time of the desiccant is3 till 5 years. The life-time is depending on the quality of the process-air, because it is known that in the air there are always small dust particles, oil and other pollutions.
Because these pollutions will penetrate the pores of the desiccant and reduce strongly the capacity. It will be clear that running under the design conditions results in a longer life-time and above design conditions in a shorter life-time.

Information about the capacity during the life-time cycle.
Because of the fact that the quality of the Delsorb HQ desiccant used in each Delair® installation is registered, its is possible to check every year a sample from the installation in the field and compare this with the quality of the new desiccant. Therefore you will be informed about the quality during the life-time and also maintenance costs which are expexted in the future.
We think that it is of the utmost importance to choose a desiccant with the DELSORB-HQ logo, because then you are ensured of the right performance of your investment now and also in the future.
